Columns by Primed Engineered Wood Products, provide exceptional value for porch columns, deck posts or any other application where a structural post or timber may be desired. These products have been developed to provide a structural wood column option that is much stronger than traditional solid sawn timbers without the natural splitting, twisting and movement experienced with a solid timber. Prime Columns are pressure treated to .31 pounds per cubic foot using a micronized copper azole wood preservative. The .31 retention is recommended by the ESR-2240 ICC Evaluation Report as the retention for "Critical Structures" and is a much higher treatment level than typical pressure treated products. Additionally, the treated wood is Kiln Dried after treatment to provide stability, durability and an aesthetically handsome structural wood column option.
Full nominal size 4X4 and 6X6 (Full 3-1/2” and 5-1/2”).
Size fits with available hardware and handrail options.
Each column independently wrapped with a poly tube.
Treated to Ground Contact - Critical Structures. (AWPA use category UC4B).
ESR-2240 ICC Evaluation Report .31 retention for Critical Structures.
Most other timber/ column options are treated to .15 retention, far less than the .31 retention recommended by the ESR-2240 for UC4B use category.
Kiln Dried After Treatment, (KDAT), for lighter weight and maximum stability.
Prime, paint, or stain immediately. (No waiting).
Exterior structural adhesive system for enhanced strength and durability.
Hollow center provides a channel for hidden structural connections and wiring.
Limited lifetime warranty for damage resulting from termites or fungal decay.
Strength test results of Prime Columns shows the structural capacities up to 10.5 times greater than recommended design loads for available hardware.
Considerably greater load capacity as compared to solid sawn timbers.
Produced using a superior grade Southern Yellow Pine graded for strength, density and appearance.
Produced from a renewableand sustainableraw material. (Southern Yellow Pine).
